STATE - Engagement Ranking and Reward Baseline

DomainsDOL EnglishProduct208 words1 min read
active

DOL English current rollout uses period-scoped points for learner ranking. Reward and motivation remain multi-layered, but account level is not part of the active ranking model.

  • Cross-area ranking axis:
    • canonical rank source is LearningPointsWeek.
  • Context breakdowns:
    • modules may show PracticePointsWeek or VocabCarePointsWeek,
    • these are local breakdowns unless explicitly rolled into LearningPointsWeek.
  • Level policy:
    • no user/account level in current rollout,
    • vocabulary stages/levels remain item-local learning state only.
  • Recognition layers:
    • badge, streak, certificate, and course achievement are valid motivation/recognition surfaces,
    • they do not modify rank formula by default.
  • Copy guardrail:
    • active DOL English docs should not pair Rank with Level for the same learner status line,
    • use level only for item progression or explicit historical/out-of-scope notes.
  • Extension guardrail:
    • any new point bucket must declare one role:
      • primary rank,
      • context breakdown,
      • non-ranking.
  • Shared Engagement Platform provides the cross-area point-conversion model.
  • Learning Management and Vocabulary surfaces consume this baseline for learner-facing wording.
  • Home/community/course surfaces must keep ranking copy consistent with this state doc.
