Context

Current AI Tutor docs are scaffold-level and mostly focused on carryover from Smart Search and 7-day high-attention plan. Product direction now requires a broader and explicit AI Tutor role for day-to-day learning support.

Decision

AI Tutor is defined as a learning guide (teacher-like support role), not just a fallback chatbot.
AI Tutor remains on-demand across all surfaces (no auto-open behavior).
Baseline capability set includes:
- concept explanation (vocabulary/grammar/usage),
- contextual Q&A,
- next-step recommendation,
- in-chat micro-practice generation,
- progress explanation on request,
- structured learning outputs (checklist, mini-exercise, diagram/mindmap-friendly response, progress summary).

Decision Value

Creates one clear role contract for AI Tutor across modules.
Prevents scope drift between “search helper” and “learning guide” behaviors.
Establishes a stable foundation for detailed UX and policy contracts.

Rationale

The product needs a consistent AI Tutor baseline before adding detailed UX logic. Locking role + capability first reduces downstream conflicts in practice, learning, and home surfaces.

Implications

Product/UX impact:
- AI Tutor docs must move from scaffold to explicit behavior contracts.
Data/logic impact:
- response engine should support multiple learning output formats from one intent.
Operational impact:
